Massage Therapy relieves muscular aches and pain, reduces tissue tension, improves circulation and aids in the prevention of stress-related illness. In addition, massage therapy is an excellent treatment modality in the recovery of whiplash and accident-related pain conditions, as well as the restoration of full joint range of motion following surgery. Our registered massage therapists (RMTs) are trained to evaluate individual health needs, and provide active and passive techniques for complete patient care. RMTs provide an accurate assessment, differential treatment plan, and prognosis of specific soft tissue and musculoskeletal conditions. They act upon the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems to improve health.
During any hands-on portion of the treatment your therapist will check with you to make sure you are comfortable with both the environment and with the pressure being used. You will be properly draped (covered) for privacy if any area of the body needs to be exposed for effective treatment. It is common for your therapist to take a moderate approach at the first visit in order to determine response & reaction, and then to adjust the treatment as necessary in the following visits. Be sure to let your therapist know if anything feels uncomfortable or painful, or you simply have any questions about the treatment provided.
Techniques include Swedish massage, deep trigger point release, strain/counterstrain technique, lymphatic drainage, and/or shiatsu massage. Our therapists understand that repetitive strain or past injuries can lead to muscle and joint stiffness, chronic pain, greater risk of injury and reduced performance.
